“LOFT can have a significant impact on aviation safety through improved training and validation of operational procedures. LOFT presents to aircrews scenarios of typical daily operations in their airline with reasonable and realistic difficulties and emergencies introduced to provide training and evaluation of proper flight deck management techniques. The result is an appreciation by the air carrier of operational shortcomings on the part of line crews and an evaluation of the adequacy of flight deck procedures and instrumentation, as well as over-all crew training effectiveness”.
Our Course
Our Line-Oriented Flight Training (LOFT) course is delivered on our A320 fixed base flight simulator and can be incorporated into both initial and recurrent flight crew training programmes. For maximum effectiveness, it is ideally undertaken following completion of a Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) course.
The programme consists of a complete, gate-to-gate flight conducted in real time and fully representative of line operations. Using our proprietary Infinity ACT Crew Resource Management (CRM) development framework, the course places particular emphasis on the assessment and development of non-technical competencies critical for teamwork, communication, workload management, situational awareness, and leadership.
To accurately reflect real-world airline operations, the flight deck is managed exactly as it would be in line operations, with access to comprehensive operational flight plans (OFPs), charts, performance calculation tools, and other resources routinely used in commercial service.
In line with core LOFT principles, training scenarios run without interruption and traditional training techniques, such as aircraft repositioning or re-running events and emergencies, are deliberately avoided.
This approach allows crews to experience the real operational consequences of decision-making, both positive and negative, within a realistic environment.
Each training session concludes with a comprehensive, structured debrief, covering both technical performance and non-technical skills, ensuring meaningful learning outcomes and measurable professional development.
